Emily Yates-Doerr is a medical anthropologist and science and technology studies scholar who writes regularly for public venues, including Ms. Magazine, Literary Hub, and Sapiens. She is a professor at Oregon State University, where she teaches in the Applied Anthropology and the Food in Culture and Social Justice programs. Her most recent book is “Mal-Nutrition: Maternal Health Science and the Reproduction of Harm,” which draws from 20 years of fieldwork and analysis of public health nutrition. Her recent project examines a rumor of nuclear fallout in 1950s South Dakota.
